It’s been a little over a year now that I’ve been driving the Pet Sitting Mobile (aka The Hoopty). At first I was embarrassed to drive it because of the rather crazy graphics on the side of the car but over time, I seem to forget it’s even there.
It definitely gets a lot of looks, which was the main goal. I have a lot of people tell me they see my car “everywhere” and wonder if we have a fleet of vehicles. No, it’s just me….I drive a LOT.
There are a couple of downsides I’ve discovered about having a wrapped vehicle.
People stop at my house unannounced.
I’ve had several people come knocking on my door wanting to “tour the kennel”. As it clearly states on the car we do “in YOUR home pet care”. We don’t have a kennel. These people always seem to come at the most inopportune time – like 8am on a weekend when it’s my only day to sleep in and I went to bed with wet hair so I looked like I combed my hair with an egg beater.
People stalk me.
I will never forget the day before Thanksgiving when I went to the grocery store. I came out and a woman literally came running over to me. She had been sitting in her car waiting for me to come out. She asked if I covered her area (ironically I did considering I was several miles from home). She said she needed a pet sitter. I asked her when did she need a sitter to which she replied “starting tonight”. I felt bad telling her I was sorry, but we were completely booked for the holiday and there was no way we could squeeze her in with such short notice.
I have to drive REALLY nicely.
Because the car is marked and has my phone number all over it I am forced to drive very courteously. Not that it’s a bad thing mind you. In fact, I think it’s a good thing! I do my best not to tailgate or cut anyone off in fear of getting a really nasty phone call!
Overall I’m very happy with the pet sitting wrap on my car. It definitely does what it is supposed to do! Have you seen the Hoopty around your area?

I saw your car in Hannaford parking lot one day. I wished I ran into you because it has been so long since I have seen you! I just wanted to re-introduce myself to you and say hi. After all you have been to my house so often over the past 10-11 years!

Hello!
I’m a PetSitter in Chicago & was hoping you could say where you bought your wrap from & how did you get it on your vehicle?
Who put it on for you?
Thank you.

I went with a local company that specializes in vehicle wraps. I’m sure you have them in Chicago, just do a Google search. It took close to a month for us to come up with the design and then I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up the same night.
