If you’ve been following us for any length of time, you know we have a wrapped pet sitting car that we call the “Hoopty”. As you can imagine, the Hoopty gets a lot of response.
The pandemic has hit the pet sitting industry hard and Purrfect Pet Sitting is no exception. We were closed for three long months. The Hoopty hasn’t been being driven as much as usual, so I parked it near the road at my home in East Greenbush so it would still be advertising for us. I’m sure many of you have seen it in your travels.
Two weeks ago someone threw an entire bottle of hand sanitizer at the car. It was a bear to remove once it had dried and caked on. It took two trips through Hoffman’s Car Wash to get most of the gunk off and some elbow grease.
Two nights ago someone threw a Twisted Tea bottle at the car. It left a large dent and damaged the paint.
So, now, when this business is struggling to survive and every penny is accounted for, I have to dig into my pocket and come up with a few hundred dollars to repair it. The paint is breached, so if it isn’t fixed it will start to rust.
I’m not only angry, I’m disappointed.
What ever happened to having respect? What ever happened to the rule of “if it’s not yours, don’t touch it”? WHY would you deliberately destroy someone else’s property?
What is wrong with people?
Is it just kids? I don’t think so, since it was an alcoholic beverage bottle.
Is it a jealous competitor? I would like to hope not, but stranger things have happened.
Is it even the same person (or people) both times? Who knows.
I’d like to think people keep an eye out for each other. I know I always do!
It’s sad that I now have to set up a security camera to make sure that this doesn’t happen again. If it does, we can hopefully catch whoever is doing it.

I have seen you car, when I pass by your home. I am sorry to know that this has happened. There is so much hate in this country today, & so much disrespect for others.
I hope the police or other cameras in your area will catch who ever did this senseless damage.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
Thank you! I’m pretty shocked this happened, to be honest.

Wendy, I’m so sorry this happened. We haven’t had any problems at our house beyond the usual random beer cans thrown onto our lawn. We’ll be more vigilant and watchful from here on. Hoping you won’t have any more issues.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
It seems we always have weird stuff happen here. Thank you for keeping an eye out for us!

I’m so sorry Wendy. Whatever happened to morals, values, integrity, respect. I’m beginning to be embarrassed to call myself an American for so many reasons. It’s sad.

Couldn’t have said it better myself!
