If you’re like me, you’re limiting your trips to the stores and using home delivery options whenever possible. I thought it would be helpful to list some of the options that we have been utilizing.
There are the standard options for grocery delivery (or curbside pick up) like Price Chopper/Market 32, ShopRite and Hannaford. I’m pretty sure Walmart and Target are also doing deliveries now.
As you know I like supporting small businesses, so I’ve found a few other options that have worked well for us that I wanted to share.
I’ve mentioned Field Goods in a previous blog post for their great customer service. They normally deliver to businesses once a week, but since most businesses are closed they have started home delivery. There is a $75 minimum order for delivery. Their goods are mostly from local farms. They have everything from fresh veggies and fruit to meat to dairy and bread and other sundries.
Another local company that I ordered from this week and was very happy is The Big Body Butcher on Central Avenue in Albany. They offer fresh beef, pork and chicken products. They don’t have a minimum order per say, but I asked and they said $100 is usually enough to deliver. Unfortunately, you can’t place an order online as they are a new-ish business and can’t take credit cards over the phone or internet. You can call your order in and either pay in cash when they deliver or pay via Paypal or Venmo.
Grapes and Grains Wine & Spirits (in Walmart Plaza) is now offering curbside pickup and delivery.
There are a few farms offering home delivery that we have not tried, but I wanted to include:
Wind Drift Farm in Poestenkill is offering what they call a “farmer’s market on wheels” which includes products from a number of local producers in the Capital Region.
Laughing Earth Farm in Brunswick is offering some meats, veggies and other products from other farms.
I hope you find these options helpful. Do you know of another local service offering home delivery that should be included? Please leave a comment so we can add them.
