All businesses receive complaints. It’s normal that you just can’t please everyone no matter how hard you try. Pet sitting and dog walking are no different.
So what are some of the wackiest complaints we’ve received from clients?
1. Pet sitter didn’t walk my dog.
I once had a client complain that I didn’t walk her dog. Her substantiating evidence was that she knew I didn’t walk the dog because she counted the number of grocery bags under her sink and none were missing. I promptly emptied my pockets, which contained numerous poop bags. Yes, I did walk your dog and didn’t use any of your bags because my pockets are FULL of them!
2. Pet sitter didn’t scoop the litterbox daily.
This one also relates to counting the number of bags used. Client complained that the pet sitter didn’t scoop the litterbox daily because there weren’t enough used bags of litter in her trash can. I had to explain that we try to reduce bag consumption by using the same bag for a few days, therefore we didn’t use one bag for each day. Who digs through their trash can to count bags anyway??
3. Pet sitter wouldn’t make an extra visit for FREE.
When a client tells us a specific door must remain locked at ALL times, we keep that door locked at ALL times. Client had left door unlocked and didn’t tell us differently, so we locked the door. Their daughter came home and couldn’t get into the house. Client expected us to make another visit FOR FREE to let their daughter into the house. If it were OUR error we’d have gladly made an extra visit at our own cost, but it wasn’t our error. We were following the instructions provided to us.
4. Pet sitter cracked my toilet bowl.
Yes, you read that correctly. Client was away for a week and when they returned home they claimed the pet sitter had cracked their toilet bowl. Their toilet was original to their 1960’s home. What they did not know is their pet sitter lives literally 3 houses away from them and had she needed to use the toilet she would have waited until she got home! Client also admitted one of their relatives was probably in the house while they were gone.
What do you think? Do you agree these are weird complaints? We take all complaints seriously, but sometimes they are just over the top!
