I had really high hopes for 2020. It’s our 20th year in business and we were on target to have our best year EVER. Unfortunately, COVID-19 had other plans.
Like the rest of you, being in the house and unable to go anywhere or do anything has given me a lot of time to take pause and contemplate things. I’ve learned a few things from Coronavirus.
We’re Wasteful
Pre-Coronavirus we did our grocery shopping every week. We rarely ate leftovers. We threw away a LOT of food. Now? We are meal planning. We are eating leftovers. We are doing our best to NOT waste food.
We Have Some Incredible Clients
Despite being closed, our clients have been VERY understanding. We’ve gotten so many positive calls and emails from people telling us they (and their critters) miss us. We’ve had some clients insist on sending payment for services despite their need to cancel.
My Grandmother Was Right
My Grandmother raised thirteen children. Yes, you read that correctly, THIRTEEN! She had the biggest garden I’ve ever seen. She made most everything herself; whether it be soap or salad dressing. I have gotten pretty creative lately and I’m grateful for those lessons she taught me. I’ve pulled out my stash of seeds and have already planted lettuce and spinach.
We Should Always Have Toilet Paper In Stock
Thankfully, my mom (aka The Coupon QUEEN) had given us a 20 pack of toilet paper before this all started. Had she not, we’d be out with the masses; searching the shelves. I can honestly say going forward we will never have less than 20 pack in stock!
We Need To Slow Down and Be Grateful
This has been one of the most valuable lessons for me. I’m used to working 50-60 hours per week and constantly being on the go. I’ve learned that we ALL need to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. We only have ONE life. Take time for you and the ones you love.
We pray that this is over soon and we can get back to pet sitting and dog walking. We are ready!
There you have it, five things I’ve learned from the Coronavirus. Do you agree with these lessons? What have YOU learned from this pandemic?
CHERIE CHIN says
Looking at the positive side of this pandemic, I think it has made us all “stop and smell the roses”. Families are back to spending more quality time together at home. I always say “there is no place like home”. It’s bringing us back to our roots, what really matters.
