“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”
The above is creed of the United States Postal Service but it may as well be for pet sitters and dog walkers as well. We have a job to do and no matter what the weather, we will be there. We have living, breathing creatures depending on us!
Right now it’s a balmy 32 degrees. How crazy is it when it’s actually FREEZING that we feel like we’re having a heat wave? Break out the shorts and the sunscreen!
The past several weeks we have seen temperatures drop as low as -24 with the wind chill. I don’t have to tell you that’s darn cold when you’re out in it! When the temperature plummets we take extra precautions with your pets and your home to insure that everything is safe. Our time outside is curtailed to ‘business only’, no extra walking. We don’t want anyone getting frostbitten paws or ears. Once your pets have completed their business we go back inside for playtime or extra belly rubs.
We also check your house to make sure that the heat is working and that the faucets still have running water. If we find any problems, we notify you immediately if we can’t rectify it on our own.
Dog walking and pet sitting….it’s not for sissies!

I am glad to red something about snow since I am in a part of California where it does not snow. I does got cold wind chills and of course colder in the winter at times with the rain and wind. It is not the California dessert, although it is something to keep in mind and be aware of even in some parts of California where it does not snow. I am trying to get into pet sitting. I am still doing online and trying in my area to find if there are a few agencies to apply.
