Summer is finally here and vacation season is in full swing. As professional pet sitters the commodity we sell is our time. Once our schedule is full, it’s full. Therefore we can’t “pencil you in” as a backup, just in case you need us, and pray that you call us back.
I am consistently amazed at the things people tell me when they first contact us inquiring about pet sitting services. We regularly hear “I’m waiting to hear if my sister’s friend’s cousin’s neighbor’s daughter’s aunt can watch our dogs. Pencil me in for now and I’ll be in touch.”
I won’t be here holding my breath.
You see, when someone tells me that it tells me their main focus in their pet care is cost. As in, they want cheap or free, and that’s ok! I get it, pet sitting isn’t cheap. But, in all honesty, it’s kind of offensive to say those things to the professional service you’ve contacted.
The other thing that amazes me are the people who contact me the DAY before they leave claiming that their pet sitter has bailed and now they are desperate.
You get what you pay for.

On the other hand, we have clients who won’t make any reservations without make sure that we are available BEFORE they make any plans! We even had people check with us before they BUY A HOUSE because they want to stay within our service area! We LOVE those clients!
We want to be your FIRST choice, not your last resort!

Totally agree that you get what you pay for. We just got back from a 2+ week trip with a pet sitter bill was nearly $1,000 but we consider it money well spent as we had absolutely zero worries that our furry kids were well taken care of while we were gone.
