I have been on a quest of sorts to find my favorite cat litter. One that clumps tightly, doesn’t have an overpowering odor and low dust and tracking. I have tried several kinds and will continue to sample different brands until I can determine a favorite.
I recently decided to try Arm & Hammer Naturals Clumping Litter.
Upon opening the bag the first thing I noticed was the very strong perfume-y smell.
This couldn’t be a good sign, right? The texture of this litter reminded me of sawdust or the brand of litter made from cedar sawdust (not a fan of that either).
I completely emptied and cleaned the litterbox and then poured this in. At the time of this test, we had three cats and we have four litterboxes throughout the house.
What was the result of this?
My cats literally boycotted the litter box with the Arm & Hammer litter.
They used every other box faithfully, but would not touch the box with this litter in it. It has been at least a month and the box with this litter has been used MAYBE 6 times. When they did use it the litter didn’t really clump well at all. It just disintegrated when I tried to scoop it out.
I have since tried mixing another brand with this litter (rather than just throwing it out) and they will use the box, but only as a last resort.
Would I recommend this product?
NOPE. As a matter of fact, I have half a bag left if anyone wants it! It will be going in the trash soon.
So tell me, have you tried this brand? Did you and/or your cats like it? What is your favorite brand of litter?
