Pet Sitter Product Review: Tidy Cat Lightweight Cat Litter

I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for the new Tidy Cat Lightweight cat litter. I decided to give it a try and review it for you.

First, it’s true. It’s at least half the weight of the usual cat litters on the market. Makes it much easier to schlep it home from the store. I had high hopes for this litter.

Sadly, my high hopes were dashed.

The litter itself is roughly the same size and texture as the standard Tidy Cat litter. It does have a fragrance, but it’s not over powering.

I found that while it did clump, it wasn’t as tight as the traditional clumping litter. It also seemed to take a LOT more litter to absorb the urine that its traditional counterpart. Therefore, we went through a lot more litter than usual.

There is one thing that will stop me from buying this product ever again though.

The litter gets tracked EVERYWHERE.

Because of it’s weight or lack thereof, it flies everywhere. I was literally sweeping the floor two to three times per day and it was all over the house. Even my husband noticed and asked “why is there litter all over?”. For him to notice that, trust me, it was EVERYWHERE.

We recently signed up a new client who was telling us that we would need to sweep each visit because her cat kicked the litter out of the box. I hated to tell her it wasn’t the cat, it was the litter! She was using the Tidy Cat Lightweight litter.

Would I buy this product again? NO.
