“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”
The above is creed of the United States Postal Service but it may as well be for pet sitters and dog walkers as well. We have a job to do and no matter what the weather, we will be there. We have living, breathing creatures depending on us!
So what happens when your pet sitter has an emergency?
Here at Purrfect Pet Sitting we have an emergency backup plan. But what happens if you are using a pet sitting service (or a friend, family member of neighbor for that matter) that is a sole proprietor and doesn’t have employees? What happens if something, heaven forbid, happens to the pet sitter?
I learned all too well over the summer. I had a woman call me frantic from her vacation in Florida. Her pet sitter ended up in the hospital and the pet sitter’s backup wasn’t able to continue caring for the client’s dog. This poor woman was in Florida and had no one she could call to take over care.
Can you even imagine?
This winter weather has been challenging to say the least. I received a call from one of my employees that she had gone off the road and had to have her car towed to the garage. She was going to be without a car for a bit until the garage assessed the damage and told her whether it was drive-able or not. She was greatly concerned about getting her scheduled visits covered.
If we didn’t work as a team and have two of us go to every new client meeting so two people know your pets and your routine it may have meant a call to a client or the emergency contact to see if someone else could take over care. But when you hire Purrfect Pet Sitting that WON’T happen. I was able to step in and cover the visits.
The emergency of our pet sitter was completely seamless to the client.
It’s just one more reason hiring a professional is SO worth it. You can go away and know that your pets are going to be visited no matter what! We won’t bail on you if we get a better offer or even if we end up in a ditch.
