It may come as a surprise to some of you, it does to us, but some people still don’t lock their doors. We’ve met with clients who claim they don’t even know where the key IS to their doors since they never lock it.
It is our policy to insist that your home be securely locked when we are taking care of your pets. This policy isn’t solely to protect your home, your pets and your belongings it’s to protect us. If a home is unlocked there is a very good chance we may walk in on someone who doesn’t belong there. Then what? It HAS happened. Thankfully the sitter realized something wasn’t right and immediately exited the home and called the client who promptly called the police. That’s right, the home was being robbed. What is even worse? It was being robbed by a friend of theirs.
We also had one client recently who insisted not only on leaving the house unlocked but leaving the door to the outside WIDE OPEN. She wanted her cat to be able to come and go as she pleased. We expressed our concern about other critters coming into the house and how uncomfortable we were with this arrangement. Imagine our surprise when the client was actually mad because something had come into the house and eaten the cat’s food. Needless to say, we will NEVER honor such a request again.
We want to provide you with complete peace of mind while you’re away. By securely locking your home you do your part in helping us achieve that mission and aid in keeping us safe.
