One of my employees recently raved over a new subscription service for cat litter. She claimed there was NO smell! Based on her comments, I contacted Kitty Poo Club and asked if they would send me a box in exchange for an honest review..
Kitty Poo Club (www.kittypooclub.com) is a monthly subscription service for a disposable, odor-free litter box.
Each month you get 30 days worth of their exclusive, odor-destroying litter and a new box! They recommend one box per cat and it costs about $21.95 per month, per box. Shipping is free.
I have two cats (Bob and Fergus). We have a total of 3 litterboxes in our house and each one has a different brand of litter. I decided to set this up in my office, as it’s the most frequently used box.
The box contained a bag of litter, a plastic litter scoop and a plastic lined box. Setup was very easy.
At first, I put the new box right next to their regular litter box. I left it like that for a week. They never used the new box. I took the other box away, forcing my hand, so to speak.
That worked, but they would only pee in the box. They refused to poop in it. I kept the box set up for a month and I think they pooped in it maybe four times.
This litter works great for urine, but does nothing to help with feces smells.
This is what it looked like after a month of two cats. It was starting to have an odor, but nothing compared to regular litter that hadn’t been scooped of urine in a month!
Disposal was easy, just fold up the box and drop it in the trash can.
For me, I did like the ease of this litter, not having to scoop urine balls out every day and that there was little to no smell and no dust. For the cost ($21.95 per box, per month) I think other options are cheaper and my cats like them better.
What do you think? Have you tried this litter? Do you think it would work for you?

I love the idea of Kitty Poo. I bought a box, litter, mat, dome. Set it up my two never ever had an issue of changing over to this awesome box. My youngest had a ball the first day (1yr) whole my (7yr) watched, so she went in right after my youngest was done.
The only problem I’d in a week and a half all I could smell throughout my house was urine, what a I doing wrong!!!
I scoop poop everyday and stir the urine as often as I see it. The litter isn’t even discolored and I can smell urine throughout my home. Thus was the first time trying this

You might want to contact Kitty Poo Club and get their thoughts on it. My questions would be 1) what are you feeding your cats, 2) how old are they and 3) when was the last time you had bloodwork done on them? Some illnesses, such as diabetes, would make their urine smell a lot stronger and/or produce a LOT more urine than the average cat. I would probably rule out anything physical with my vet.

We have two cats also, you must change the box out every two weeks. You really need two boxes to go a month. It is designed for 1 box per day for 30 days. My daughter has 4 cats and uses 1 box for each cat and it works great for her.

Thank you so much for the feedback!
Deb says
I think 2 cats using the one box is too much. The recommend 1 box per cat.
Likewise I have a senior cat who pees a lot. I just upped my delivery to every 3 weeks. This works perfect for me. I scoop the poop out once a day and stir. Absolutely no cat pee smell in my house.
Julie says
I think you meant one box PER CAT per month 😉
Carol says
I’ve been using this for 2 weeks. My cat prefers the regular clumping litter but it’s only available to her during the day when she is allowed outside in an enclosed atrium. She is forced to use the inside Kitty Poo box during the night. After only 2 weeks of fairly minimal use, it reeks of urine. I had better odor control with Pretty Litter but it’s finer and tracks everywhere even with a large, good quality mat. Guess I’ll keep searching for a product that works.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
Thank you for adding your comment, Carol! My cats weren’t big fans of it either. As of right now, my favorite litter is Slide by Arm & Hammer.
Carrie says
I’ve had the Kitty Poo Club box for 2 weeks now and my apartment his smelling like urine now too! I hate it. I love how easy it is to just scoop his poo each day, but stirring the litter raises a ton of urine smelling dust and that’s making my whole place smell. I think I’m going to check out doing wood pellets instead.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
Thank you for leaving a review! It’s nice to hear other people’s responses to a product. I’ll be doing a new blog on this soon, but my new favorite litter is Arm & Hammer Slide. Covers any odors, doesn’t track and best of all, ZERO dust!

I have used Kitty Poo for 1 month and love it so far. I had to add some of my litter in it to get my cat to start using. The only thing is when I stir it or when I added more of Kitty Poo litter in it the
dust chokes me a lot. I don’t know if the smell is choking me too, I don’t notice a smell, I am going to use a mask that’s how bad it chokes me. Worries me it might choke my cat too. Otherwise I love the convenience.

Thank you for the comment! Glad to hear you like it!

I have had a lot of dust as well and I’m very concerned about it affecting my cats.

Kitty Poo Club litter has done great on our house. I stir it thoroughly twice a day. I have had this box 3 weeks and zero smell. The feces does smell, but it gets scooped and placed into a covered trash can and the smell instantly dissipates.

I’m so glad to hear you like it! Thank you for the feedback!
Kathy Glickman says
After my first month of using KittyPoo, I can honestly say that this is the first litter I’ve tried that truly eliminates the urine smell. Two days before I was scheduled to replace the box, I did begin to notice the smell, but it served as a reminder to change it. And the convenience is wonderful.

Thank you for your comment Kathy! I’m glad to hear you like it!

I tried it for a few months and at first i was amazed at the no smell awesomeness, but that changed within 1 1/2 weeks i could smell the urine and the litter was visibly yellow! so i actually had to move up the shipping date, which gets me to my next issue with KPC, although you have a date that it ships, add a week on to that because thats how long each one of my shipments took. i actually had to buy more litter as i waited for my shipment because the whole house smelled so badly of cat urine. They shouldn’t tell people its last for a full month , because it just doesn’t, i was even stirring/cleaning twice a day and it still smelled up the whole house. i love the convenience of just packing it up and dumping it in the trash, but when i end up paying more than what i was paying before i subscribed to KPC its just not worth it. Maybe if it lasted a full month then i can maybe see staying subscribed , but its just not worth it to me. I wish them luck with their product, but they need to be more truthful to customers about how long a box will last.

Hello, I’ve been using Kitty Poo Club litter for about three months, trying out different strategies for my litter ‘problems’ (I have 4 cats, one with kidney dysfunction who pees a LOT).
I started out with 4 boxes (1 for each cat as suggested) of the fine grain silica. The cats started using it right away (after I took their old litter boxes away). I loved that I didn’t have to scoop any urine clumps, only the poo, and I could use paper grocery bags to throw out the poo (instead of plastic). I was also diligent in stirring the silica litter twice a day. However, there was so much DUST created by the stirring that within 4 days my nose was totally congested, I dreaded every time I had to stir the litter, and my ENTIRE room (with 4 boxes) and hallway leading out of the room had a visible thick layer of dust everywhere!
Also, I tried to keep the litter for 4 full weeks without changing it, and it’s then that I got that terrible urine smell throughout my house despite stirring daily. I think if you have more than one cat peeing in one box, or you don’t stir, or you keep the litter more than 3-4 weeks this will become a recurring issue.
Now I have switched to using their organic soy clumping litter which is 100% dust free (thank goodness). I found this to be the BEST litter I’ve ever had, especially for the kitty I have who pees a LOT. Clay would turn into clumps of mush, but if cleaned twice a day, the soy litter clumped without becoming mushy and was super easy to scoop in that regard. The soy litter smells like Play-doh when left unscooped for a day, which is better than the usual odors I had. The only downside to the soy litter is that each piece is a little bigger than the biggest holed scooper I had, so it took more ‘shakes’ to get all the unsoiled pieces to fall back down.
All my cats used the soy litter immediately except for one cat who peed/pooped on the floor several times before finally using it regularly.
One other thing – I don’t know if anyone else is trying to find an alternative solution to using plastic bags to throw out clumping litter, but I had started using doubled paper grocery bags in order not to use plastic. This worked surprisingly well on all the litters except the soy one. The paper bag when left for several days (as I fill it half way before throwing away) eventually got soaked with the urine from the soy clumps and got the floors soaked in urine. Now I’m back to using plastic bags until I figure out something else.
All in all, if I had just one or two cats I may not use this service as it’s a little more expensive. But having four cats and one that urinates a lot made the Kitty Poo Club MORE economical for me and simplified the entire process while reducing the usual odor we all suffered.
I just ordered the clay litter (to test it out) but will continue to be a member using the organic soy for as long as I can.

I use the Genie system to put the cat waste. “Litter Genie Plus Pail” on amazon. have used it for 10 years. it works really well to store the waste until garbage day. The plastic bag type refills I also get on Amazon, from a private seller. I never have odor and don’t have to remove and dispose of the waste daily.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
You either love the Genie or hate it. I’m in the hate it camp. I have never had good luck changing the bags and get litter everywhere. I prefer to just scoop into a recycled plastic grocery bag.

I’ve been using the Kitty Poo Club silica litter for about 6 months now. They claim it’s 99.9% dust free – but I found this not to be true. I have the box in my second bathroom and have noticed a layer of silica dust on everything. I also see the dust flying around when I clean the box every morning. I’m afraid of what’s its doing to my lungs and the lungs of my cats. I didn’t notice this when I first started buying their litter – so not sure if things have changed since my original purchases.
I’ve also used Pretty Litter and haven’t noticed the dust with this product. I’ll be switching to 100% Pretty Litter and see if I notice the same issues.
Lee Freeze says
I have been using this for my one kitty for over a year now and love it! I haven’t had a problem with dust. I just rescued a kitten. I will need to replace the box every 3 weeks now instead of 5 weeks. They love it and so do I!
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
Happy to hear you like the Kitty Poo Club!

Interesting idea. It speaks to the laziness in all of us.
However…
It’s just as something else to clog up the landfills.
Lisa Romero says
Have you tried Skoon or Pretty Litter? I’m wondering how they all compare.
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
Personally, I have not. I did have a client that tried Pretty Litter and they didn’t like it. Said it retained too much smell from the urine.
Julie says
I have been using KPC for a little while now. I completely relate to those commenting on the dust. It was so bad that I contacted KPC about it. They replied quickly and said that they had had so many complaints about dust that they contacted their manufacturer and told them they had to find a solution. Now the manufacturer vacuums the litter before sending it. It has helped. I do find there is still dust after a couple weeks, but it is better than before. So, if you had problems before, it may be better now. It was nice of KPC to respond so quickly and to take customers so seriously.
I also shortened our shipment time, i was getting every 5-6 weeks and that last week was horrible. 4 weeks is better.
The new boxes are coated, no plastic liner, and the entire box is biodegradable.
Overall, I like it just as well, if not better than any other at litter and I love not having to go to the store and lug heavy litter home every couple of weeks.
Schwemer says
I just started using this liter. I did the same thing ordered one box for my 2 cats to see how I like it. Week one was great no urine odor ( they still used their other box that week also). but now at the end of week two it’s horrible and I just dumped the entire thing out. Even if I had 2 boxes I “may” get 2 1/2-3 weeks before the smell. At $21/box. That’s easily $60-80 per month. 2 boxes 2x per month. Way too expensive and the dust is horrible. Never had my entire home smell of cat urine before. I’ve always used one box for 2 cats
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
I have to agree with you that it’s on the pricey side. That is one of the reasons we don’t use it personally.
Alison says
Does anyone have opinions on the fine grain silica vs the regular grain silica? I use the fine grain and really like it, except for how much dust it causes when stirred around. It also gets EVERYWHERE. I’m considering trying the regular silica to see if it’s any different.
Jennifer Anborn says
I don’t recommend. I was suspicious when they said it would last a month because I have had a lot of cats And that just doesn’t seem feasible.
I was right. Even after stirring and scooping way more than I do with my own store bought litter, I was smelling the Box in about 2 weeks.
I do have a heightened sense of smell and no tolerance for the smell of cat urine. There’s just no way this Box lasts a month. 3 weeks would be pushing it.( I was just one day short of 3 weeks before I threw the whole Box out and couldn’t wait any longer.)
And the dust is extremely bad. That was one of the biggest reasons I had to get rid of it. I’m not sure if it’s bad for you but my entire bathroom was covered with dust and I could never keep it clean.
Those 2 things is this products downfall. Smell/dust.
Not worth the price. If they sent 2 a month I would consider it…
Lady Glitter Sparkles Shannon says
But did you have one box per cat?
Purrfect Pet Sitting says
They sent me one box to try. I have 3 other litterboxes in the house for 2 cats.
Charlotte Kennedy says
I am on my second month of the silica litter. I do like the convenience of having everything sent to me and the disposal of it. It was 3 weeks thought that I had to go ahead and order my box. Also, I wonder if anyone else’s cat will not cover the poop in the silica. I wonder if next month I will try the fine grain and maybe he will cover it.
Gayle Dawson says
I have one cat and I’ve been using the silica litter (big pieces, not fine silica) for one year. My cat didn’t have any problem switching from her clay clumping litter. I love this system. My preference is to put out new litter every three weeks so that’s the delivery schedule I’m on. I stir the litter once a day and scoop the poop as soon as I find it. My cat doesn’t bury the poop. The litter box is in my bedroom so I’m fussy about how it smells. I flush the poop down the toilet so I don’t have any stinky poop in the garbage and no big clumps of urine to bag. It’s been wonderful not dragging heavy boxes of litter, emptying the litter box, washing it out, etc. There’s minimal dust. The clay litter was terribly dusty. The little balls of silica get stuck in my cats paws sometimes so I find them here and there but they’re easy to pick up. With the clay litter I’d find paw prints on tables but not so with the silica. Great stuff…. Worth every penny.
